11/3 In the past weeks we examined many objects and devices to find the perfect motion for our prototype. We thought about nature, animal gestures. A motion that will be cute, intuitive, not annoying. We went with a "move away" gesture. The movement itself will probably happen on some sort of wheels. Our first lego version looked like this:
After a long break, we are starting to get ready towards the end of the year. The technical part of the team is working on the final prototype with an industrial designer while the rest organize the pitch presentation, a video and media we have collected throughout the year.
After presenting our research work we concluded we must be more specific with our solution. Our first target was to help students maintain attentiveness during class, but now we ask ourselves do students really want to be focused in class? and if they do, how much are they willing to sacrifice to achieve it

Experiencing with more mechanisms. We wanted to test how does it feel when the phone falls and bounces on different kinds of materials.

We met with Tal Makers who has an institute for teaching kids arduino and electricity. We discussed  possible implementations for out prototype. Below is one of the mechanisms we have tried - a servo motor that operates an arm, providing a linear movement.
25/2 A new question came up - why physical and not an app? We could make an app that tracks your phone usage and prevent the user from using it. We've checked existing apps in the market and all of them did not succeed. We believe that the main reason is that the target is to disconnect the user from the phone, which isn't possible with an app because IN the phone itself. We decided to physically detach the user from his phone.
